Description:
The talk will be given by 2 activists, one Israeli and one Palestinian, from Combatants for Peace. They will talk about their experiences in relation to the Israel-Palestine conflict growing up, in the military and generally in everyday life, how they met, why they joined the NGO and how they are trying to strengthen the peace movement in the region.
What is Combatants for Peace?
Combatants for Peace is a grassroots movement of Israelis and Palestinians, working together towards a nonviolent end of the conflict between Israel and Palestine. They use civil resistance, education and other creative means of activism to transform systems of oppression and build a free and peaceful future from the ground up.
Launched in 2006, it is the only movement worldwide that was founded by former fighters on both sides of an active conflict. As a result, Combatants for Peace were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017 and 2018.
